GrafitGo vs Tinkercad: which one suits you
Autodesk's Tinkercad is probably the best first hour of 3D there is: simple shapes, holes, group — and you have a part. GrafitGo also starts in the browser, but it covers houses, interiors and plans too. The difference is mostly in what you want to do after that first hour.
In short
| Tinkercad | GrafitGo | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | Free |
| Account | Autodesk account; class accounts for children | GrafitGo account, free |
| How you model | Solid shapes and “holes” grouped together | Parametric objects plus boolean operations |
| Architecture | Only from basic shapes | Houses, rooms, doors, windows, stairs, roofs |
| For printing | STL export | STL export plus a check: fits the bed, closed, how much support |
| For schools | Classes, electronic circuits, block coding | No classroom modules |
Where Tinkercad is better
Sheer simplicity. A ten-year-old makes a key ring in five minutes without reading anything. There are so few buttons you cannot get lost.
School. Teachers can set up classes, children join without an email, and besides 3D there are simulated electronic circuits and block coding. For a technology lesson it is hard to beat.
Where GrafitGo is better
Anything bigger than a part. In Tinkercad a house is dozens of hand-aligned boxes. In GrafitGo you drop in a house with storeys, windows and a roof, change it through parameters, walk through it at eye level and export the 2D plan.
Parts that need to print right. The check tells you before the slicer whether the part fits the bed, whether it is closed and what share of it needs support. You also get the volume and an estimated weight of PLA.
Presentation. The public link, comments, version history and collaborators turn a model into something you can show and work on with others.
Which one to pick
- A child, a complete beginner, or you teach a class: Tinkercad.
- You want to draw your house, a room, a yard: GrafitGo.
- You print functional parts with holes and exact sizes: both work; GrafitGo helps with the pre-print check.
- You have outgrown Tinkercad after a few months: GrafitGo is a natural next step, still with nothing to install.
Can I move a Tinkercad part into GrafitGo?
Yes: export STL or OBJ from Tinkercad and import it into GrafitGo. It arrives as a fixed object you can combine with others using boolean operations.
Which is better for children?
For the first hours, Tinkercad. For a child who wants to build their own room or house in 3D, GrafitGo gets interesting quickly.
