GrafitGo vs Sweet Home 3D: for interiors and houses
Sweet Home 3D is free, open source and has been one of the most used interior design programs for almost twenty years. GrafitGo covers some of the same ground, but starts from a different place. Here is where they overlap and where they do not.

Where Sweet Home 3D is better
The 2D plan as a starting point. Many people think in plan: you trace walls with the mouse just as on paper, and the 3D builds itself next to it. It feels very natural for interiors.
Catalogue and maturity. Thousands of furniture items in extra catalogues, photo-realistic renders with sunlight, and years of use behind it. It works fully offline, installed on your computer.
Where GrafitGo is better
The whole house, not just the inside. Drop in a house with storeys and a roof, the terrace, fence and pool, then walk inside. Every object has parameters: wardrobe length, number of storeys, stair width.
The numbers. The bill of materials adds up material volumes and estimates the cost; the cut list groups identical panels for the joiner.
Working with others. Send a link the client opens on their phone, get comments, see version history. No files sent back and forth by email.
Which one to pick
- You are furnishing a flat, think in 2D plans and want a big furniture catalogue: Sweet Home 3D.
- You want the whole house with its exterior, or to show it to someone by link: GrafitGo.
- You work on a computer without internet: Sweet Home 3D, installed.
- You also make parts for a 3D printer: GrafitGo does both.
Can I bring Sweet Home 3D furniture into GrafitGo?
Yes, if you export it as OBJ. It comes into GrafitGo as a fixed object: move it, rotate it and change its material.
Which one renders nicer images?
Sweet Home 3D has a photo mode with slower but more realistic lighting. GrafitGo renders quickly in the browser with shadows, ambient occlusion and reflections — enough for a presentation.
